Evening Grace

Item #604

Evening Grace is a contemplative evening worship service that invites us to reflect on God’s grace as the day draws to a close.

The prelude is an instrumental piano medley of all of the songs in this worship service.

. . . This excerpt from the Call to Worship reminds us of who God is and who we are:
Leader:  Welcome to worship.  Our God, who is full of grace, is here with us.
ALL:  Some of us are all tired out and some of us are energized by the events of this day.
Leader:  Our God, who is full of grace, is here with us.
ALL:  Some of us are lonely and some of us are all “peopled” out.
Leader:  Our God, who is full of grace, is here with us.
ALL:  Some of us are thankful for answers and some of us are full of questions.
Leader:  Our God, who is full of grace, is here with us.
ALL:  Some of us have been aware of God’s presence throughout the day and some of us are here to be  reminded of God’s presence at the end of this day.
Leader:  Our God, who is full of grace, is here with us.

. . . A song quiets us in the presence of God at the end of the day – Be Still:

. . . A song prepares us to listen as God’s word is read – Your Word is a Lamp:

. . . A song that calls us to prayer Spirit of Grace:
Spirit of Grace – live worship
. . . A closing song celebrates that God’s grace carries us – At the End of the Day:
At the End of the Day – live worship

Reflect

Evening Grace was easy to learn and very singable.  It perfectly fit the mood of evening worship – an opportunity to reflect at the end of the day.  My favorite part was that, even if I wasn’t leading, as a member of the congregation I got to sing along with every song!

Hear and ponder

I truly loved the Evening Grace service you put together.  You creatively set the stage to hear and ponder the message of God’s grace with us.  Thank you for sharing your talents!

Thank you

Thank you so much for creating and leading such meaningful and lovely Lenten services.  One of the comments I heard last night was, “I don’t know what I’m going to do without this beautiful service time!”  Thank you!

Many favorable comments

Just wanted to let you know that we introduced Evening Grace last night for our Lenten service.  I have never heard so many favorable comments!  It was easy to sing and so beautiful!  As I was accompanying the congregation, I actually had tears in my eyes . . . my favorite song was At the End of the Day.  Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU.
