As children use props in the Picture the Holy Spirit sketch, everyone gets to explore the many ways that the Holy Spirit moves and works in people’s lives.

Whether the Holy Spirit is stirring things up or helping settle things down, we know that the Holy Spirit is on the move in our world.  Children will use movement, props and a big shirt to celebrate the many ways that the Holy Spirit inspires and comforts God’s children.

Theme:  Holy Spirit
Characters:  Reader and 7 children with props and the option to expand the parts to include more children or combine the parts for fewer children.
Song:  The Spirit, Holy Spirit – this blues song includes hand jives

(children with bandanas, hat, sign, scarf, & big shirt stand stage right as reader begins)
Reader:  How do you picture the Holy Spirit on the move in our world? (pause)
Is the Holy Spirit like the wind?
(Child #1 & Child #2 enter twirling with bandanas floating out to sides in both hands & then stop center stage – a few feet apart)
You can’t see the Holy Spirit, but it stirs things up in one place.
(Child #1 twirls bandanas over head & then freezes in place)
Then it helps to settle things down in another place.
(Child #2 gently sweeps bandanas from side to side – starting high & going lower; then freezes in place)
One thing is for sure, the Holy Spirit shows up in lots of places.
(Child #1 & Child #2 sxit stage right twirling with bandanas floating out to sides)
Is the Holy Spirit like a hat?
(Child #3 scurries to center stage carrying a hat)
A hat that gently sits on our heads and helps to shape our thoughts and actions.
(Child #3 places hat on head, then places both hands on hat that is on head)
A hat that teaches us how to pay attention and then care for and cheer each other on.
(Child #3 takes hat off and holds it over heart and then scurries off to stage right with both hands holding hat over heart)
