Here’s a Sisters Agree to Disagree on What’s Better script excerpt:
Sister #1: My sister and I have different ideas about what to do with our time, just like Mary and Martha. Martha liked to be busy.
Sister #2: I like to be busy. Is busy bad?
Sister #1: No . . . busy is not bad.
Sister #2: What about Mary? Did she like to be busy?
Sister #1: Not in this story. Mary sat and listened to Jesus as he spoke.
Sister #2: I know how to sit and listen, but I would rather be busy. Is sitting and listening better?
Sister #1: I’m not sure if it is better or not. All I know is that we all get busy. But this story reminds us that it’s important to take time to sit and listen, too.
Sister #2: I can do that! But I might not be good at sitting and listening the first few times I try it.
Sister #1: No problem. What matters most is that we are willing to try. We all want to do the right thing. I have a feeling that just like us, both Mary and Martha wanted to do the right thing, too.
Sister #2: That’s one of the great things about having a sister. (puts arm around Sister #1)
Sister #1: Yeah . . . we get to learn how to do the right thing together. (puts arm around Sister #2)
(full skit and song are approximately 5 minutes long)
