Here’s a The Good Samaritan – the long and short of it script excerpt:
NOTE:  You may use actors instead of puppets for this skit!
Narrator:  (to audience) Raise your hand if you have a neighbor.  (acknowledge the response) The dictionary says that a neighbor is someone who lives next to you.  In the Bible, Luke 10 tells a story that helps us to think about ALL people as our neighbors – not just the people we know who live close to our house.  This is the story of the Good Samaritan.  (pause) A man was on his way from Jerusalem to Jericho.
(Puppeteer #1 holds “Jericho —-> 15 miles sign up stage left; Man – appears stage right and starts walking very slowly toward sign)
Narrator:  Check it out.  (points to sign) Jericho is a 15-mile trip from Jerusalem.  That trip for us would be like walking from the church all the way to _________ (Wisconsin, the Hardy farm, the next town, etc.)  This is going to be a very looooong walk for the man!
Narrator:  On the trip to Jericho, the man was surprised by robbers.
(Robbers #1 & #2 appear on both sides of man)
Robbers:  (together) BOO!
Man: (jumps and is startled)  Aah!
Narrator:  The robbers attacked the man.  They beat him.
(Robbers #1 & #2 poke and pummel the Man)
Narrator:  They took his clothes and then they said,
Robbers:
(together)  Let’s get out of here!
(Robbers exit; Man hangs limply over top edge of curtain groaning in pain)
Man:  Oh.  Oh.
Narrator:  It so happened that a priest was going down the road.
(Priest appears stage right)
(full puppet show and song are approximately 5 minutes long)
